TikTok UGC Song Attribution
17.07.2024
TikTok has introduced an important new update to the way UGC music is displayed on a song’s detail page, where all the videos using it are collated.
There are two ways music gets onto TikTok: either as user-generated content (UGC) or playlist-generated content (PGC).
UGC is where a creator posts a video with the song already mixed into the content, and PGC is officially distributed music from the General Music Library.
Previously, on the UGC song’s detail page, the artist and song name were attributed secondary to an ‘Original Sound’ credit.
This has now been swapped in order to place the artist’s artwork, name, profile, and track title at the top of the page.
