YouTube AI Label Improvements

02.06.2026

Since 2024, YouTube has been labeling content when creators disclose that they’ve used AI tools to create it.

Now, the platform is making two updates designed to make the process simpler and more intuitive for both creators and viewers.

The disclosure label is being moved to a more prominent position – below the video player for long-form videos, and as an overlay on Shorts videos.

While YouTube still requires creators to manually disclose when they use AI, the platform is also rolling out new internal signals to help identify it.

If a creator doesn’t specify whether AI was used but YouTube’s systems detect it, the disclosure label will be automatically applied.
