YouTube Views Update

YouTube is rolling out a change that could significantly boost view counts for long-form videos of all kinds.

A view will now be counted the moment a video begins playing from the very first frame, and this will be the standard globally across all formats.

This now matches the changes the platform made last March to the way it counts views for Shorts.

Previously, YouTube only registered a ‘view’ in the count after a user had watched a video for a few seconds.

YouTube has stated that this won’t affect payouts, as it will still calculate earnings based on engaged watch hours.
