Instagram & Facebook Teen Restrictions
24.01.2024
In order to protect teens on Instagram and Facebook, Meta is introducing additional protections focused on the types of content teens are shown on the platforms.
Any account held by a teen will now default to the most restrictive control settings, making it less likely for them to come across potentially sensitive content.
With these changes, age-inappropriate content will no longer be shown to teens, even if it’s shared by someone they follow.
In addition to this, content with search terms related to suicide, self-harm, and eating disorders will be hidden from Explore and instead direct to expert resources for help.
These new policies reflect current understandings and expert guidance regarding teen safety and wellbeing.
