Beatport Indie Tech

Beatport has launched Indie Tech, a new standalone genre page for the more club-focused sound that has grown within contemporary Indie Dance.

Built around punchy drums, prominent basslines, and bold synth hooks, Indie Tech brings unusual sounds and edgy ideas into peak-time arrangements.

Its influences stretch across Tech House, Melodic House & Techno, Bass House, and Mainstage, with an emphasis on dancefloor impact.

The decision follows outreach to the wider electronic music community, which showed strong support for giving this sound its own category.

Creating Indie Tech as a standalone category also gives Indie Dance the chance to remain more closely connected to the musical lineage that originally defined it.
